Cloud growth brings new risks of cyber safety for Singapore businesses

According to the new research, Zero Labs, the organization in Singapore, is reporting a sharp increase in cyber attacks and concerns about cyber security.

In his latest State of Data Security report in 2025: Distributed crisis, section found that 91% of IT and security leaders experienced cyber attacks in the last year and emphasized the growing order to raise around hybrid and data security.

The study points to challenges caused by the rapid acceptance of the cloud and increasingly complex IT infrastructure. Since the organization is moving into hybrid cloud systems, attackers move into hybrid cloud systems, expand their tactics to use the vulnerability in the cloud and place.

“Organizations operate in a more connected and complex landscape that creates new opportunities, but also new risks,” said Sheena Chin, CEO of ASEAN in a section. “In the advanced digital environment in Singapore, businesses must strengthen their ability to protect critical data to maintain the pace with newly emerging threats.”

Cyberatacks become more frequent and distracting

The report notes that attacks have become a constant feature for many businesses:

  • Almost 20% of Singapore organizations said they faced more than 25 cyber attacks in 2024 – an average of at least one attack every two weeks.
  • Common attack vectors included malware infections (38%), phishing (32%) attempts, dedicated threats (31%), cloud or Saas violations around (26%) and wider data violations (23%).

The impact of these incidents was significant:

  • 38% of organizations reported harm to reputation and customer confidence decreases.
  • 37% faced higher security costs.
  • 33% stated that the cyber attack led to changes in the executive level.

The complexity of AI, cloud and data increases security loads

The rise of AI and the continuing acceptance of the cloud also complicate data protection efforts. According to a survey of 92% of IT and Singapore’s security leaders, the hybrid cloud controls around, reporting that their workload is now hosted in the cloud.

This shift has brought several challenges:

  • 42% of data security in hybrid as their most important challenge.
  • 36% in favor of privacy and observance of data as the main one.
  • 34% emphasized the lack of centralized visibility and control over their surroundings.

Telemetry section data also shows that 36% of sensitive files are classified as high -risk, includes personally identifiable information (PII) such as social security numbers, telephone numbers, intellectual ownership and source code.

Threats based on ransomware and identity are still evolving

Ransomware attacks continue to be the main problem of organizations in Singapore.

  • Among those affected by ransomware, 95% report that the ransom will pay the ransom for obtaining their data.
  • 75% stated that the actors of threats were able to partially endanger backup and renewal systems.
  • 38% reported a complete compromise of their backup around.

Identity threats also grow along the spread of cloud services. The report has found that 91% of organizations use cloud or Saas between two and five platforms, creating new injuries in identity and access management. The attackers are increasingly focusing on these gaps to move laterally across systems and escalate attacks.

The threats of initiated persons who are often associated with endangered login data were cited as growing concerns. Rubrik’s telemetry also dreams that 27% of high -risk files contain digital access data, such as API keys, user names and account numbers that attackers often use to get deeper access to systems.

The need to approve data security

These findings suggest that the organization in Singapore operates in a grape environment where traditional peripheral defense is not long. Since the hybrid environment becomes the norm and the attackers who are quickly adapting, it is increasingly necessary to shift to direct the critical data – regardless of where it is located -.

Since cyber threats are constantly evolving, it is actively identifying and protecting sensitive information more similar and adapting to future risks.
